Homemade 7/8" bar mounts for a C10
« on: December 23, 2012, 05:17:32 PM »
Anybody drilled the stock upper triple clamp to accept regular 7/8" handlebar clamps?

Thanks!

Define "standard" 7/8" bar clamps.

Added a picture of what I have...other types have four smaller mounting bolts...where mine has only two larger diameter ones...

What are those off of or made for and where did you buy them?

One of the first things I did was to make a tubular bar adapter. Shoodaben currently has rubber isolated bars, so I've studied the situation a decent amount. You cannot mount bar clamps to the stock triple because it's cast with strengthening ribs in that don't lend themselves to mounting the bar adapters well. HTH, steve

Thanks, Steve...I was kind of afraid of that...with the top having so many different surfaces and angles...and the clamp offering no smooth pressure point underneath...oh well...I went back and read the "Looky What I Gots" thread...Are you moving forward with your rubber isolated bar mount?

It's been a challenge. Charlie Gary (NWAD) have come to agree on building them, but I need to get some prints to him, which I have yet to provide. OTOH, this has been the best work year I've ever had, thanks to all the work you guys send! Thanks for that! Steve
