Center Glove box install on 2012 (for lack of better definition)
« on: September 30, 2012, 08:23:54 PM »
I was cruising Ebay last month and saw a Glove box for a 2009. My 2012 only has a cover and thought it would be handy to have this on my bike.

Has anyone made this conversion?

Im sure i can figure this out because there are a bank of relays in the way and I'll have to fabricae a new mount bracket from the looks of it.. I'm hobbling on one leg due to surgery so I only had time for a cursary check on the compatability.

Thanks..

Just search.  There are already numerous threads.  No need for another...

Oh, search I did..I think my keywords were wrong. Thanks so very much for the links..

I always try searching because I always find lots of other interesting threads.. Like Ram air..WTH? wondering if not having it is that big of a deal and if I didnt see it was on the GTR, would have I ever felt the need for it?
Thanks for taking time out to post links

Sometimes searching is tricky, especially on this SM forum.  Main search also will only search the sub-forum you are currently in.  This sub-forum ("the bike") will not contain that much about accessories and mods, which is what you seek.

Ram air- it helps a bit at speed but isn't that much of a big deal.

TONS of nice info on this forum

I'm the one who did the conversion and I could never go back.  I love having it.  This is the link with my write-up on it...

Looks like a nice conversion, but I prefer to have my tank bag when I am touring.  I keep my spare helmet shield, electronics, cameras, sunglasses, snacks and other essentials in there.

The side glove box has my paperwork, spare earplugs, and kickstand puck.

I have a magnetic bag on my 09 for trips and use the glove box for around town.

Thanks! I actually found the thread that was resurrected off old server you posted on embedded in one of the links Maxtog posted. Last night I ordered the mount bracket of an 08. Much easier than crafting one.

You will still be crafting something.  The mounting bracket either fits the bike, or the glove box but not both.
