Lithium battery - Anyone try one?
« on: September 30, 2012, 05:39:45 PM »
Has anyone here tried one of the newer Shorai lithium batteries in a C14 (or any other bike or atv for that matter).
I know they are a little pricey at about $200 but am curious as to how well they are working out.

I had a bike that came with a shorai, It was junky and clunky.  You could hear the cells moving in the case.  I bought a braille lithium green lite battery.  It works awesome, I even used it to start my car before with no problems.

Ya, I bought one for my Triumph Speed Triple about 3 years ago. It went bad in less than a year which may have been my fault for letting it sit too long without recharging. I replaced it with the next larger capacity and also bought the special Shorai charger. I keep it charged in storage mode and only charge it fully when I want to ride. It takes only a few minutes to get it from storage charge to full charge. After 6 months, all is still good and I'm hopeful the battery will last a long time but that remains to be seen. It's a cool little battery but maybe a bit hard to justify especially if you opt for the special charger as well.

We'll have to run that through committee and then there's revisions and it just takes a lot of time.....but there's always....

Installed the Shorai.....in both ZX14r, and the C-14, love them both...10 pounds lighter on the Ninja, the C-14 is stock size but much lighter..expensive...but the best always costs more!
