Horsepower differences in model years?

Noticed in the manual the early model C10s were rated at 110PS (approx 108 HP) and the 90> models rated 92 PS (90 HP) what is the difference in the engines and is there a real world difference?

  The red Concours has the most HP and therefore is the fastest!!

  I'm guessing but the highest HP was measured at the crank and the lower number at the rear wheel? AS far as I know KAWASAKI never did anything to the engine to increase HP in the C10.

Looking at the book some more and the 2000 suplement goes back to the 110 PS. the 110PS rating is at 9500 RPM where the 92PS rating is at 9000 but the torque figures are also different, much lower torque figures on the 90-99 models, at the same RPM. Must be where the measurements were taken, crank or rear wheel, they just don't desgnate that.

Are you sure you are looking at all US models? The engines were tuned differently for different markets.

the us modes were the same across the board, but the euro models had some with lower hp, mostly due to restrictive caps on the carbs. the euro guys buy the us diaphram caps to boost thier hp.
   Also at the dyno day we had back in february, I saw a stock connie at 84 hp, and another at 97 hp. I've seen several 84 hp bikes, but never a stocker at 97. I'd say the average bike is in the 88 - 89 area. Steve

Also we got the pea-shooter mufflers, with a 5/8" diameter hole to restrict the exhaust flow, Yankee mufflers with a baffelectomy are much better!  :)

The manual I downloaded from this forum has all the different numbers for the different markets except some of them do not list US Hp . (or I didn't see it) so I used the PS #s as examples.
