My wife left yesterday afternoon to see her mother in southern VA. She takes I95. I get a call that she's hit something in the road and the rear tire is totally destroyed. She is on I95 southbound about the 116 mile marker on the left side of the road. As I'm talking to her I tell her to call AAA and get the donut put on so she can make it back home. I hear a male voice in the background and I ask who it is. It's a Caroline county deputy who's stopped to help her out. Stopping anywhere on I95 is one of the most hazardous things you can do on that road. Anyway, the deputy changes the tire as he thinks it will take too long for AAA and it's way too dangerous to stay where she is at.
to the deputy and to the Caroline county Sheriff's dept. I'm going to buy the deputy lunch at some point next week. It's the least I can do for him and send a thank you letter to the Sheriff and the deputy.
I meet my wife at Horne's in Port Royal and switch vehicles so that I can put on a used tire I just took off earlier in the week. When I get home, my youngest daughter informs me that she has a headlight out. That's two things vehicle related.
I got the tire 'fixed' this morning and made sure that both rims on the driver's side were not bent. They aren't, thank goodness. Only damage appears to be a trim ring on the rear wheel. Got that ordered this morning. Will take it in for an alignment on Tuesday.
This morning my eldest daughter calls and says her check engine light is on. She'll be around tomorrow so that I can pull the code. That was number three.
I hope that's it. We're going on vacation next Saturday.
