MC Cruise Installation Video
« on: June 03, 2012, 09:59:52 AM »
I just received my MC Cruise electronic cruise control.  Getting prepared for the 5,400 mile journey from Michigan to southern California in July.  I didn't come across any posts but was wondering if anyone has done an install video on it.  If not, I'm going to try and do one.  I've never attempted installing one of these so I make no claim to be an expert.  Just trying to make something to make life easier for others.

The fact that You aren't an expert will probably make for a better video. Even though I have a rostra on Mine, I'll still be looking forward to seeing Your vid.

Tony's instructions are quite good and this is about as plug 'n play as you can get. The wiring is cake. I would recommend that you study the installation of the throttle cabling. It's all laid out as to where everything goes. If you're not mechanically inclined the either find a mechanic to install it or bribe a freind that is. Having a couple of long straight and curved hemostats will help with connecting some of the wires. Tony's also very responsive to questions (especially considering he's way Down Under).

Once you get it installed you're going to wonder how you ever managed to survive long hauls...

R2T2 is right.  I've almost got mine installed.  As for the video, its not going to happen.  Yesterday, I got home to find my Dad in the garage.  He said "he had to get the hell away from your mother for a while."  And while he was in my garage, he noticed the cruise control package with instruction laid on top.  So by the time I got home, half the bike was disassembled and to my horror, instead of using the 100 or so plastic zip lock bags and permanent market to neatly organize the bolts that came off, they were all in a bucket.  So I asked him which ones go to where and he replied, "all them bolts on foreign bikes are the same, it won't matter."  Did I mention he's a Harley guy.

So far, I have 6 hours into it and I'm on the last connection.  We won't count the 5 hours I spent today fixing a potentially catastrophic error.  On the step where you are supposed to pull a single wire out of the main weather connector going to the bike's computer and insert another, I mis-read the instructions and pulled the entire connector apart, freeing about 20 or so wires.  Trying to line up all those bullet connectors into that main plug would have resulted in more bleeps on camera than actual words.

Hoping all is completed tomorrow.  The instructions really are great.  Just read them thoroughly.  I'd say just about anybody can do it.
