Brake pads are expensive!!!
« on: May 31, 2012, 02:07:27 PM »

I just went to my local Canadian dealer to get a set of pads for both front and back and they want $275. I'm not sure how much of this crazy Kawasaki pricing or thank you for being a Canadian.

So off to the U.S. I go.

Where is the best place to order a set of EBC brake pads?

Thanks,

Yeah THAT'S insane!  :yikes:

I just bought mine off Ebay for $36 (front 8 pads) and about the same for EBC rear pads.

I don't think the front set was EBC brand, but we'll see how long they last for.

Yeah, that sounds high if Canadian and US dollars are still pretty close in value.

Kawasaki makes two different front pads for C-14's, one for the '08 and '09 bikes and another type for the 2010 and later models. Any pad can be used on any year bike but the new pads are harder, a bit less grippy and do not make nearly as much brake dust. Deeply discounted the newer style pads are about $54 for the rear set and $44 per side for the fronts, so a complete set is around $141, not including any taxes or shipping. You can do a quick Google search for 'Kawasaki parts' and find lots of discount parts suppliers in the US, and some checking on forums will let you know which ones are reputable.

Just as an example, this place: http://www.powersportswarehouse.com/?gclid=CKTIs8uvq7ACFQkaQgodoxCsUg
has the pads for the price mentioned. I have never done business with that company though so do not know how they are for shipping speed or costs.

I just bought a full front/rear set of Bikemaster pads from Motosport.com for $116 shipped. I'm not putting them on until sometime in July so I can't comment on them yet. Hopefully they'll be as good as the 2010 stock ones.

I switched my front pads to Galfer tonight. Less than 125.00 from Rocky Mountain atv....the ONLY place locally that bothered to stock a brake pad for the c14, zx14, or zx6.

So far, I'm impressed with their performance and I've only ridden 15 miles so far. Performance will improve once the break in.  Slightly less initial grab, but very good power and feel.  Galfer recommended the HH series for the c14 and said the pads will work well with the stock rotors.
