Space needed for vista cruise
« on: October 06, 2016, 09:25:55 AM »
I bought a vista cruise as its the only throttle lock i prefer. There isn't enough space between the cable housing and rubber grip. I'd like to know if there is a way to slide the (heated) grip over a mere 1/8". I have no other problem with the fitment other than the lack of space.

Yes, I read you prefer the Vista Cruise.  I have had them in the past.  This thing works well and is cheap and very simple to operate.

Thanks but I have no interest in that, only the Vista Cruise and if and how to nudge grip over.

I have the Vista Cruise on my C-14. Works great.

To solve the clearance problem, I carefully ground away the rubber that was causing the concern.

NOTE" To anchor the Vista Cruise, I built a metal holder out of aluminum flat stock.
(The holder sorta looks like a tiny square frying pan)
              The Build:
I cut out a pattern that resembles a small cross.
Folded up the top and 2 arms to form a pocket.
The long leg (is unfolded) and has a hole drilled thru it for the mounting screw.
The holder installs between the 2 cables and uses the cable attachment screw to secure it.
The tab of the Vista Cruise fits inside of the holder pocket.

Took a little tinkering, but after installation, everything works fine..
I've been using it for about 2 years.

Ride safe, Ted

Thank you. Is there any chance you can post a few pictures?

having used both the vista cruise, and the all plastic Vanda cruise, on a few bikes, I'll say you are going to have to remove the grips, and carfully reposition the heaters, and re install both after positioning the vista. you will likely have to trim the outboard end of the grip also, to prevent rubbing on the bar end.

I use Gumout, and the small red tube, slid in under the grip and spritze it and begin twisting while wet to get a grip off.. no clue about your heaters, if they are glued on, more research on the adhesives will need to be addressed... for re-installing, again I spray the grip insides, and the bar, with it, and slide and slam it home, but you may want to add a stack of cardboard spacers to prevent pinching it too tight against the switch pod.
