Slippery grips
« on: June 24, 2016, 10:36:07 AM »
I don't mean like slimy slippery, but over the last few years the rubber on the grips has burnish, hardened, whatever and my gloves won't grip them well. This is very annoying, especially on the throttle side.

They are heated, and functional, so no I don't want to replace them. Anybody else have this problem? Fixes?

Grip Puppies? Increases the diameter of the grip, but the heat will still work thru them.

Second that, love my grip puppies. I cant believe such a universal product made a significant difference, makes me wonder why none of the local shops stock them.

the C14 factory grips look worn out when new, they have no give or gumminess. Im not sure what the procedure is for replacing them if they are heated, so I covered mine and it has been great
Every thing I drive is special and makes me excited just looking at it

+1

I put them on, day one.  Still fine 5 years later.  Heat takes longer to work through them, but works.

I have tried over and over and just can't get used to it.  I feel out of control.

Hey now......
My grips are fine.....

I was just offering the frugalicious COG cure.....

But then again, I save all the rubber bands from broccoli and cellery and such, and put them on the kitchen door knob, because when you need one the most... is when you can't find one....

It takes a long time to get used to it... Keep it low at first, so movement doesn't upset it as much. Then adjust later for more comfort. It truly does take a couple of seasons to really be smooth in the twisty stuff, but really is worth it for me.

I have one and it's on the shelf.  Didn't like it.  Kept slipping around.

Well, I never threw it away- I even keep it on the bike just in case I need it.  I have a lot of problems with my right hand going numb (from tons of years typing) so it is nice to know I have it as an available option.  But it really has scared me a few times.

Mine seems to not slip if applied tightly.  It is just really difficult to get used to it being there.  I will admit I haven't used it since adding the Throttle Tamer, so it might be time to try again.  Long trip tomorrow, perhaps then...

But it really has scared me a few times.

I keep mine in the glove box just in case the Rostra craps out on a long trip, but yeah, a couple of scary times both in gas stations.
I thought I was going to take out the pumps and die in a fireball, only a panic grab of the clutch saved me.
