Newbie questions from a FZ1 owner
« on: May 20, 2012, 10:38:59 PM »
Greeting folks, nice forum. Current ride is a 2010 Yamaha FZ1 but I am looking for a new ride. Owned a Connie back in 1999 and really liked it so am looking at a 2012 Concours.
Getting up in the years and the older I get the more I like to sit upright with my legs relaxed. Realize there are several options to raise and move the bars so think I can find something I like.

Can you add an aftermarket cruise control?

Welcome  ;D
Yes I believe you can, but it is easier to fit a throttle lock, which is a simpler method, thus saving you money for the unit and install time.

Yup, what Taff said.

Loving the throttle lock!

Hope you get one, you will probably love it.

Can certainly relate.

Oh yes.  It is a shame the Concours doesn't include it.  It is the one missing major feature.  Go to the accessories forum and perform a search on "cruise control" and you will find dozens of threads to read or reply to....

I had a FZ1 prior to this also. Loved the FZ1 but the concours is my absolute favorite! The bags and seating position is hands down way better to me on the connie. Plus do the flies, pcv, exhaust and this big bike will power wheelie no problems. I do miss how little the FZ1 was, but no way I would go back now! Here was my baby.

The FZ has been a good bike. Added risers and Givi V35 bags to it as well as a taller windshield but just cant seem to get a comfortable fit with it.

Traction control, ABS, electric windshield, shaft drive, heated grips......the Connie has so much more and even a 3 year warranty. Only two dealers around me (live in Alaska) and neither seem to want to move off MSRP.

I upgraded from and FZ1 to the 2008 Connie back in 2009. I had both bikes for a while, but the Connie is soo much more comfortable, and the torque is totally sick dude.

None around here will come off MSRP either.  $12,899 when I got mine!
