Accessory wires 2011
« on: April 28, 2012, 01:44:00 PM »
As I was browsing thru the service manual i saw the bike has a front and rear "Accessory" connection in addition to the plug in the front.    But i didn't see much about where to find them or how much amperage they can carry?

Under the seat, under the ECU, in a black boot. 08/09 ten amps, 10 up five amps. As always verify before use.

I was probably looking at an 08 wiring diagram.   But it said they were wired together so i'm guessing the 5amps is for both front and back?

elf,
Yes, for 2010 and up it's 5A total for the Acc. circuit. The front leads are just to the left/front of the glove box, hiding in a black vinyl boot, same for the rear leads, in a black vinyl boot under the seat and just to the rear of the ECU.  All the tail/brake LED connections are in that same rear boot.

These pics should help you find the leads on your bike.

I have a related question: Where is a good place to pickup Switched Power under the seat on a 2010 ABS C14, I am going to have a XM Radio in the trunk, and have it shut off when the bike is noit running. I guess I need about 1.5 Amps? Thanks

Use the rear accessory leads mentioned above.  They would work well for an XM receiver.

Both the front and rear are switched. Switched power was invented for people like me who would forget and leave something on and then wonder in the morning why my battery was dead.
