Newbie Connie 14 Owner
« on: April 12, 2012, 12:31:59 AM »
As the proud new owner of a 2009 C-14 with 5500 miles, what are some of the things that I should be extra careful with and check before the warranty is up in 20 days? I smell a faint odor of antifreeze when it warms up, and it makes a rod bearing rattle for 2 seconds when started cold in the morning- are these normal to the bike or should I panic? Also, is it necessary that I buy 90 octane fuel or can I get by with 87? What oil brand, weight and filter should I use? Thanks for any advice for this new Connie owner.

Anti-freeze - get it fixed.  Rattle is cam chain (normal).  Buy the fuel the manufacturer recommends.  Use the oil weights the manufacturer recommends.  Read the owner's manual.  If you don't have one you can download it from Kawi US.

You can also extend the warranty an additional three years if you do it before your existing warranty is expired.

$339 is cheap insurance for three years coverage.  My extended warranty has paid for new front rotors, tire pressure monitors, and a fuel tank.  I think it has paid for itself three or four times over.
Keeping the economy going, one tank of fuel and two tires at a time.
