Wow, that's so strange! Have you contacted your dealer?

not yet, but i did place an order for the fuel tank cover, i want to get that fixed first because theres electronics underneath, and in a rain, all of that will get soaked.
i doubt that the local dealer or even kawasaki distributor would take this issue up as a warranty issue. but i'll still be dropping by at the dealers to try my luck this weekend, need to get some engine oil anyway.

meanwhile, i've got an old t-shirt to slip on the windscreen whenever i'm parking the bike outside. rolls up and fits in the glove box just nice.

A suggestion, paint the inside of the shield black, or maybe color match and go red.  Bugs don't splat as bad on the slow black color 8)

Oh man that looks scary. I live in a cold climate and my bike is mostly parked in the garage but tour through TX, NM, AZ and UT during the summer a lot! I do always look for shady parking but can't always find it. So if its windshield lensing would it be better to park with the rear toward the sun? I also wonder if being close to the equator like he is, the sun could be directly overhead and cause lensing problems you may not see in a more northern location.

That's true, just look at ZG's bike, the bugs just bounce off at those low speeds.

another update, i think this time i've found the cause of this whole incident. sorry guys if this is a false alarm.
looks like the building's windows was the one providing most of the freaking lensing effect. i guess this also explains why the right side-mirror is affected even though it's far away from the windshield.

the blue zx14 bike is parked exactly where i usually park my bike. i reached office at noon today and immediately noticed the bright spots on the ground. focused beam laying right across that zx14 from end to end. last pic, my bike is at the top left corner, the one with the white t-shirt around the windshield.

guess i have to stop parking at the designated bike parking bay.

(pics were from a mobile phone, the brightness outside there at that time were the kind that makes you squint when you look at the cement floor)

So at one point, way back, I inquired about a half cover that would wrap up on the tail of the bike. Someone linked exactly that. Anyone have a link to that now? So the entire half cover wraps up like a sleeping bag and attaches to the tail of the bike. Upon arrival, you unwrap it it drapes over the seat, tank, guages and shield. THis would be perfect for you in this case.

It would be interesting if you could duplicate the scenario with the sun reflection and put a temp. reading gun on the affected parts for curiosity.

On a sidenote with the Covers. Does anyone offer a custom  fit cover for these C14'S ?
I did a search here and was unable to find a post on'em before i get flamed.

I remember the one that you're talking about Brent. I can't think of the name either. That cover was slick and fit great, kinda spendy if I remember right.

I'm pretty sure that Kawi makes one for the C14

Sounds like you found it.  It looks like you might end up with full direct sun, in a more tropical area (so it is more intense) AND reflected light off the building, possible also lensed.  That is a lot of energy pouring down onto flat black areas on the bike.  I suppose it is no wonder stuff melted.

It is certainly enough to prove solar energy is real :)
