So, let me get your opinion.
« on: April 19, 2012, 11:51:47 AM »
I have a set of DRL (Daytime Running Lights...............LED's).  After receiving a set of "Snarf's" Driving light mounts, I've changed directions.  The driving light brackets will house a pair of Hella FF75's,  But the new brackets are too small for mounting the LED Running Lights on.  So I though I'd ask what you think about this location for them.

Flame away. ;D

And please note:  They won't be attached with zip ties.
Does this mean we get a "Re-Do" on life too?

How much wider would a set of mounts need to be in order to mount led's up there?  Hypothetically speaking of course.  ;)
It sounds like you decided to go with the Hella 75's? Let me know how you like them.  We will have to compare light patterns at the rally.

I have the same one Tele130, and for the price they do a good job. one piece of advice. When you have them where you want them. remove them and all the screws and put a dab of loc tite on them. I lost one lens and a bracket bolt. When you remove the bracket bolt it is held in place by a floating nut that WILL move around if you tilt the assy over. Not a big deal.
I have not have had a issue with water or anything else with these lights or there location.
PS there is no water seal around them, so while you have them apart a small bead of silcone won't hurt. I need to still do that myself.

Back when my Millerized pegs weren't bent or broken off (thanks to a spill and subsequently because of some drunk dude knocking my bike over), I had lights mounted very similarly to yours.  I liked the additional illumination they provided to either side of the bike, and the fact that the light 'triangle' from the headlight and those two below made the bike a little more noticable.

I used some rubberized cable clamps (essentially a strap of metal with a rubber boot on the inside of the clamp) to bolt these to the peg hardware.  The only downside was having to remove them any time you need to remove the side covers.

Not sure now if I used 1/2", 5/8", or 3/4" cable clamps, but you get the idea.

It was easy enough to bend these 'square', and the rubber kept the lights from sliding around.  I used two for each light, to match the holes in the mounting base of the LED lights I was using.

Also, the LEDs didn't provide quite as much light as I would have liked, but I don't know how yours would compare (I'm guessing they are a little brighter than the ones I used).

They're not LED's but that's where I have my DRLs mounted. They don't really add to the "volume" of light that my HID puts out at night, but during the day they make for a nice 3-point light source that isn't normally seen, thus, hopefully catching the attention of a driver that actually bothers to check his/her mirrors or bothers to look both ways before pulling out.
