Area P vs. Holeshot
« on: February 10, 2012, 08:29:07 PM »
I'd like some opinions/input from anybody who would care to offer.

I've got a red '09 and want to replace the scud.  Narrowed it down to these two slip ons.
They're almost the same price,  they both look great and both of good quality by what I've read here.
Is the Area P quieter?  I really like the look of the Holeshot stainless but is it too loud to take my honey on a long weekend?
Which would look better with the red bike-stainless or black?
Thanks for any replies.

I have heard neither, but Holdeshot does offer some sort of noise reducing baffle that they say will cost 1.5 hp, if you think it is too loud.
Ideally, you'd find someone who has one. For me, I live about 45 minutes from Holeshot, though I doubt he'd have a slipon'd equipped C14 for me to listen to!
As for stainless vs black, that is subjective, but considering how the C14 has patches of black all over it (under fairing area, plastic pieces, etc) I can see it looking better with a black can. With silver, you'd see bike and pipe as there is nothing shiney to go with the stainless pipe.
Just an opinion...

Hey C1,
Just curious why you don't have the Muzzys on your hunting list too?  :-\

From what I've read I percieve them to be louder but who knows.  If they're not please set me straight.

The Muzzy and AreaP slip on's are very similar looking.  I have heard an AreaP slip on and it is very mellow until you hit the throttle.  I have heard an AreaP full exhaust and it had more of a bark than the slip on and my full Muzzy might be just a bit more aggressive than the AreaP, but I am sure the difference is very small.

Holeshot is top notch, but maybe a bit louder than the Area P? I love my Area P, the Holeshot not being offered in oval design was a turn-off for me. Also agree that Muzzy should be on your list, Leo Vince are very nice "and quiet" as well.

I have an Area P CF slip on and love it.

At idle it's about twice as loud as the stocker, that's not saying that it's loud mind you because you know how quiet the stocker idles. If you look at Area P's website they'll show you the db numbers. Rolling down the highway the Area P is about the same as the stocker. It's when you 'get on it' that you get the sweet sweet music. Man, that baby screams when you want it to.

Fitment is great; it looks really good, and it’s well made.

I had the Muzzys slip-on before I went to a full Muzzys dual system. I didn't find the Muzzys slip-on to be obnoxious at all, quite the oppoosite in fact I really liked the sound of it, you should include it in your list IMO...

I have the Holeshot slip-on on my '08.  I like it a lot.  It sounds great, and doesn't bother me on freeway runs.  I think I'd get the Holeshot over the Area P, and Muzzy over the Holeshot, if those were my choices.

Thankyou for all the valued opinions.  One thing I deduced was that none of the three were terribly loud or obnoxious.

I went with a Holeshot. Just love that look.  I hope it turns out.

Thanks again.

Recieved and installed my Holeshot.  What a breeze to install.  Can't say enough about build quality... I slipped it together and when I rotated the mid about 3 degrees it literally fell into perfect alignment.  Looks like a fast bike should and lightened the bike by 15 lbs.

When I started the engine.....SEG that won't come off.

That reminds me...  I better order some tires!

Has anyone run a Staintune - or are they not cool :) on the C14?  I had one on my ST and loved it.  But I really like the look of the holeshot in black.

Thanks.
