Mototrek 19
« on: February 07, 2012, 11:51:47 AM »
So I think I am going for the motocentric mototrek 19. THose of you that have this tank bag do you have pics of it on your bike? Also how do you like it as a backpack...I like the idea of being able to convert it into a backpack (how much time and work does it take to convert, etc).

Thanks!

I have one, I dont have photo. Ill see if i can get it done. I like it, lots of room. I have not used the backpack part yet. I use it every day, and never had a issue. The map pocket is little narrow but i dont use it..

This is my second Motocentric tank bag. I had the smaller one before this one. The 19 had lots of pocket and places to store stuff.

I too would like to see pics of it on a Connie.
Looked at it on the Motorcycle Superstore's website and someone in the reviews section for it said it fit very nicely on the Concours.

I like mine. The only issue I have is that the rain cover doesn't like to stay on very well when your moving. Other than that it works great. Lots of space and on the C14 it doesn't feel like it's in the way. At least not to me. I never realized just how useful a tank bag could be until I got this one.

Thanks for the pics Strester! That does look good on the Connie. Guess I'm be spending some money tonight!

Q: Is it strapped down, or are you using the magnets alone? The Connie is the first bike I've owned that you could use a tank bag on, so I have no clue what works best.

The only pic of bags I see is in your avatar Jerry, and yes they are very nice! I'm sure I could figure out some creative way to carry them...  :P

So has anyone used it as a backpack? I did not like that it did not have a handle either but figured if it can convert into a backpack relatively easily I would not mind it.

I've never tried using it as a backpack.

Rush, I just use the magnets. It has never moved or slipped once. The magnets hold really well.

I have the Mototrek 14 which I also like a great deal. It is only held on with magnets and fits well. Doesn't move at all. FYI - I also have the tailbag which is very nice as well.

Got my Mototrek-19 bag and put it on this morning. Love it so far! Lots of space, and the magnets seem to hold very well. The only downsides I see is the map-viewing pouch on top is narrow, and that there isn't a carry handle. The same complaints as everyone else. Not big issues at all to me.

I think it really looks good on the bike. As for the handle issue, I'll keep one of the backpack straps in it and just quickly snap it on when needing to. Just throw it over a shoulder and go. iPhone fits very well in the smartphone clear pouch too.

Price was $76.99 shipped from Motorcycle Superstore.

The phone/Ipod pocket is pretty narrow too. I put my phone in it once  but it was such a hug pain in the rump to get it in and out that I haven't used it since. Congrats on the new bag. You're going to like it.
