Similar to one one of them above, I made my own tank bracket (that held an old off-brand GPS before I knew about RAM mounts) then bought the handle bar clamp RAM mount bracket because it gave all of the pieces for the best price and I could attach it to my mount.  You could swap it back and forth by removing the screws if necessary.  I also plug into an outlet I added inside the left pocket as others have done.

How does this setup do for vibration? Is the tank well-insulated from vib/shaking? My eyes ain't what they used to be (need reading glasses, but don't wear them driving/riding) and vibration makes those things hard for me to read.

Mounting to the tank is probably the least amount of vibration you will get (unless you then mount it to a tank bag as some have done).  Mine clears my tank bag fine and doesn't interfere with anything.  Just take this into consideration before mounting to the tank.  I like this location because it is not in my face while riding.  I tried the handlebar and didn't like to constantly see it in my field of view.  It is angled up a little and you will sometimes have glare off of it when it has direct sun on it from behind you.  I think they all get this at certain times and angles.

I used 3/16" x 2" x 18" steel stock from Lowes to make it.  Do a rubbing (paper and pencil) to get the bolt pattern of the tank onto paper.  Then draw the shape you want and transfer it to the steel.  Then I used a hacksaw, file, and drill, and sprayed it matte black.  I bought longer (25mm?) hex bolts and intended to change them to button head allens but never did.
