I'm planning on meeting my cousin from AL halfway for a few days near Bardstown/Loretto, KY. We'd like obviously to tour and visit the various distilleries around that area. My question is this. Is there other things to do of interest besides tours. Antique stores, Civil War history, flea markets, brew pubs, etc... The web sites I found are more toward summer activities. Anybody here from around there that might know a bit more? Thanks.

How about riding some of the best roads in the midwest? :o You can also go into Bowling Green KY, the corvette museum is there as well as Mammoth Caves. You can visit the Louisville Slugger factory in Louisville......just to name a few things.

Pokey has some good suggestions. Great area to ride around. Also, may want to check out Wild Turkey Choppers. Seriously. Cool, little local motorcycle shop and custom fabricators. You can walk around the whole place, even back to the service area. There's a nifty little tour at Kentucky Cigars, where they will choose the wrappers and hand roll cigars right there with you. Great area.

Oh, and, don't pass up Makers Mark. :hail:

Abraham Lincoln's birthplace is nearby, as well as Fort Harrod (Daniel Boone).  If you go all the way to Bowling Green for the Corvette factory tour and museum, swing around Barren River Lake while down there.  The lodge has a pretty good buffet on weekends.  Or- Lexington, KY for some good riding through the horse farms.  And the horse park- over 60 breeds of horse.

OK, great, got some good info. We'll be in the car so no riding, but driving, yes, some great roads. Slugger museum for sure, we pass it twice a year going to FLA, Corvettes do nothing for me but the area around BG is nice. So thanks, we are thinking of round early March, maybe sooner depending on what my cousin can get off at work. Looking forward to it, a nice late winter road trip.

My daughter is going to school at Western, and I generally go to BG once a week for business.  If you want any specific info, I'm happy to oblige.  I know some good eats in the town.

Come down to Tampa, FL. We can ride motorcycles in 80 degree winter weather and set up lighting by trains =)

Other than hot women, Florida is too flat and boring for motorcycling "and too hot most the year".
