Sweet! May be unusual only because most people dont have the balls to leave a nail in. Kudos to you. Do ya play the lottery?

I take it you're being sarcastic, but to my mind the risk I was taking was a flat, not a blowout. The worse that would happen, in all likelihood, is that the rubber around the site of the nail would fail and air would leak out, maybe quickly. But not catastrophically.

Yep, I'm one of them.  I ride way to agressive to run on a plugged tire.

So what happens when you pick up a nail? You get a flat. What happens when a plug fails? You get a flat. In fact from my experience when a plug fails you get a slow leak. Slower then the original nail leak.

BTW: I have had a blow out on the front tire of my Valkyrie at 80 mph. I suppose if it had happened at the worst possible moment leaned over in a curve it could have been fatal. But as it was I only realized it as I was changing lanes and I had to push harder on the bars than usual. I pulled over and found the valve stem gone.
