EBC rotors

So, after some 51,000 miles I changed out my rotors, it took someone punch drunk to tell me he thought my rotors looked kinda worn out ;)  (Thanks Brian).  I got to see how well they worked this last Friday at Pacific raceways, a 2.25 long road course.  My previous non OEM pads were Carbonne Lorraines (CLs), they were awesome for the street, once they had a chance to break in, but on the track they turned to solidified grease at speeds above 130 and under hard, aggressive braking.
So, here's my take on various pads, the stockers (08 non ABS), leave too much deposit on the rotors, creating a pulsing, warped feeling.  Never again.  CLs, great for the street, wet or dry, takes better then a thousand miles to seat well, very wooden feel when new, and NOT suitable if you like trip digit speeds.  Galfer pads (HH), not as good in the wet stuff and I never had them on the track.

As it stands, I will stick with the EBCs, I have total confidence they will do what they claim.  I hit the upper 140s indicated and did some aggressive braking for a chicane several times, absoluetly no fade, steady, consistant feedback the entire day.  They are a winner in my book.

You changed the rotors...or pads? Your headline says rotors, but You are talking about pads in Your narrative.

Both.  I just thought I'd share what I've experienced with the various pads to compliment the thread.

The rotors are as smooth as silk and grip as good as dog poop on the soles of a vibram designed boot ;D

heheh. That's great! Thanks for the info. Did You get the EBC rotors that have the special designed retainer? I think they call them the S style.

Yep!  I'd have had them on sooner, but I had an older x rotor that was chrome come in, woulda really looked odd, a gold on one side and chrome on the other.  Didnt notice the differance until I had the old rotors off, ended up putting them back on and new pads since I didnt mark left and right.  Cycle Gear ate the cost of the pads.

I watched their little video. Their explanation makes sense to Me. If My rotors warp again, I think I'll go with em too since My Connie is outta warranty now.

Ah, that is only because I was too tired to raise my eyes much and your rotors were as interesting as anything else that was less than a foot off the ground....  ;)

It is very interesting that you mention the original C-14 pads feeling soft and transferring too much material to the rotor; it seems that that was a major change to the 2010 and later pads, the material is harder. The new pads are less sensitive and less progressive but <seem> to be providing better pad life, and they are progressive enough at least within the range I have tried them. Another thing that struck me as odd is that the new pads are somewhat less expensive than the original types. The new OEM pads feel pretty close to the one set of EBC's that I tried.

Good info.- thanks for posting this.
