Harvest Moonbow (Rainbow from moonlight)

Last night's Harvest Moon was so bright, it did something normally reserved for the sun. It made a rainbow:

"I was surprised to see a rainbow in a nighttime photograph taken nearly 2 hours before sunrise at 04:28 AM local time," says Marsha Adams of Sedona, Arizona The rainbow was apparently caused by the very bright Harvest Moon peering through the clouds. Camera was a Nikon D5000, 30 second exposure at f2.8.

(see the full sized pic here, http://spaceweather.com/submissions/pics/m/Marsha-Adams--110912--night-rainbow-2-C_1315860325.jpg)

Indeed, moonlight reflected by raindrops breaks into the colors of a rainbow just like sunlight does. It takes an especially bright Moon, however, to make the phenomenon visible to the human eye.
