Jbox Question
« on: September 08, 2011, 09:36:39 PM »
I have successfully rebuilt my jbox after it left me stranded on the side of the road a couple of weeks ago.  I replaced all 3 relays, re-flowed all the soldier connections and conformal coated the board to stop any corrosion.

Here is my question - How do you reseal the case when you are done?

Right now I have a coupe of long wire ties wrapped around it, but if there is a better way let me know.

I just put a thin layer of RTV around the edge of the cover, mostly to hold it on, but I guess there was some sealing benefit.  Never had any troubles.  Good Luck

I agree with LEO.  Seal it with RTV.  I live next to the beach. Everything rusts. Besides, you wont be going inside that J-box ever again if you did it right.

the box seams were not sealed to begin with, I wouldn't do it myself, and never did on any of the ones I re-soldered....the fuses aren't sealed....letting the box breath may prevent corrosion in there.

Is the j-box the same for all years C10?

Best ask MOB here.... While I think that the J-Box itself is the same there was a change in a fuse rating and labeling.

Edit for correction.

Best ask MOB here.... While I think that the J-Box itself is the same there is something different in the pin out configuration.

MOB, what say ye?

BOX  AND GUTS IS PHYSICALLY IDENTICAL, but label and headlight fuse rating differ...no show stopper.

they do have different part numbers, but either will work in all situations.
