Rick Mayer Seats
« on: August 31, 2011, 08:43:04 PM »
I had previously asked on this forum if anyone had tried a Rick Mayer seat for the Concours.  I received some responses that indicated Mayer might be a questionable place to do business with.

He had a seat for my 2011.  I have about 2000 miles on the seat and am very happy with it.  Also found Rick very easy to deal with.  He even serenaded my wife and I with classical guitar.  I made some other purchases beside the seat, but the cost was about $450 for a double seat.

I recommend the Rick Mayer seat.

Since I live down in the San Diego area, I had Bill Mayer (he's in Ojai, CA)  build me a saddle over 2 years ago for my '09 and I love it. Bill and Rick are estranged brothers. It was a bit expensive...I paid like $700 for leather. He spent half a day with me and my wife making adjustments and making sure we were happy. We went on a few test rides during the process.

A Ride In is probably a good method but mail order is another story, UNLESS you have a LOT of patience.  I like my Rick Mayer but would think twice before I did it again.  It is a nice seat that I got a great price on since they were having a sale, but if you are set on a certain time schedule then you may have problems.
