The Kawi cover size?
« on: August 13, 2011, 11:17:57 AM »
I'm curious how big this cover is when not in use? Does it take up an entire side bag or ??

Anyone that has one please advise, thanks!

I did not get the actual Kawi cover. I did get one the same size and it fits in the saddle bag, bag with clothes. I am also able to get it in the saddle bag with a joe rocket XL Manta tank bag no problem. It really depends on how you pack it. It doesn't take up that much space.

I prefer a good waterproof travel cover that basically stretches over the nose and tail section to cover the dash/seat area, then just extends down on the sides about half way.  Basically an overnight cover for when on the road that will pack up nice and small so it doesn't take up much space.  Geza Gear makes something like this, but they're ridiculously expensive when you get into the thinner/more compact high end fabrics (large Pro-Plus Series = $235.00).

So far the closest thing I've found at a decent price is the Nelson Riggs UV-2000 cover.

Recently used My Kawi cover on a trip. In the stuff sack, it will take up about 1/3 the useable space in a saddlebag. I carried Mine in a backpack along with My camera gear strapped to the back seat.

I bought this one on ebay for $15.01
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370520758901&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

it's very thin and light and BIG! It is perfect for what I used it for, dust cover, you could pack it in a tank bag!  I really like it and for the price !!!!! SWEET

For anyone looking at the Nelson UV-2000 cover:

If you have a tall (touring) windshield and/or a larger/longer rear rack (Phil's, Projekt D, etc) you'll want to order an XL cover.  The Large will fit, but it's a tight fit which won't let the sides fit over the saddlebags.

Tour King 1/2 covers.  I've used these on 34 different bikes and have always been happy with them.  They pack very small and are very light weight.
