sad thing...how do I fix

Well, it finally happened yesterday...but not to me, but my connie.  Our power went out and with me on 3rds trying to sleep with the temps climbing was a PIA.

I told my wife if the power wasnt on in an hour let me know we will start the generator.  Well...I fell asleep after an hour and my wife thinking that it was better for me to sleep went to start the generator.  She  moved my bike forward and rested it back on the kick stand.  Unfortunatly she didnt do the safety kick I always give the stand to make sure its reseated.

As she let go the bike rested for a few seconds on the stand before it folded up.  Down the bike went.  I have a scrapes on the mirror, lower cowel, middle cowel and the side case.

I used scratch X to remove some of the smaller scratches on the middle cowel, but as for the side case, lower and the mirror...they are hit.

I could cover up some of the scratches with vinal graphics (ie the front and the side case), but as for the mirror and the lower...I cant live with the way they are. 

To replace everything to OEM new will be over 650.00. 

Does anyone have suggestions on what to do with the lower cowel?  I hear some used bed liner spray but I havent seen any photos.   As for the mirror I will probably replace it.   

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

What year bike and color..I have a 08 Silver mirror housing you can have for free..

I have a left mirror housing, and pivot base with the three bolts.....

The mirror was cracked  so threw it away...but have a spare housing you can have if you need it..

 me personally I would go to auto body shop and get it repainted .
I pay cash and let em do in their spare time(no bossses around)
Less than half the price of new plastic .
They tell me repairing holes and rash is easy but good  paint is expensive.

Did you wake up when it fell or did she have to break the news to you this morning?? Was she able to pick it back up by herself?  :o

I had a parking lot drop that scraped the upper, lower, sidecase and mirror pretty badly and I had the same quandry - whether to repair or get new plastics.

I just sanded the rough scrapes down, and got the touch up pens from colorrite, and after working with them for 20 minutes, you really can't tell unless you look very close.  An auto body shop can do a better job, but they still have to match the paint.

I put GSG frame sliders on order the next day after the drop.  If they had been there before I could have saved myself a ton of grief.

When I got up last night she told me...about 5 minutes after I woke up.  Sucked.  She tried to lift it but couldnt.  A neighbor saw her and came over to help.

This is my 2nd bike...never wanted to have a dropped bike.  Guess thats out of the way now isnt it. LOL

Im thinking I may be able to fix some of this or mask it where it wont look to bad.  Other stuff Im thinking on replacing.

I'm amazed your wife is so forgiving, since this whole problem is obviously your fault. Parking the bike too close to the generator, the kickstand not being stiff enough (that's what she said), etc.  ;D

Dude, that's cold!  At least wait until she is out of the hospital to tell her about how it needs a Muzzy Dual system to replace the scratched potato launcher.

There is a "primer" color in the blue colorrite kit which is damn near an exact match for the black lower - I used it to touch up those scratches.  Works very well.

There is a technique that works well for picking up heavy bikes - I picked mine up this way with no issues:

1.  Place your lower back against the seat, grab the handlebar and brake with your right hand and rear hand grab with your left (or vice versa if you drop it on the other side).

2.  Use your leg muscles to push against the seat, and "walk" backwards and upwards.

It's pretty effective, women can right Harleys doing this.

I told her there is a way you can pick up a bike easy.  A 95 lb blonde at a bike show was demo-ing the technique.

Really?...that's very impressive!
I think you better keep her, (assuming that she has learned her lesson) not many out there with those skills.
Of course that also means she can figure out the true price of farkles.  :(

I was able to fix the mirror.  No breaks just scratches on the matte part.  I used 2000 grit sand paper and sanded put the scratches.  I then uses a plastic polish to clean it up some more.  I liked how it looked so I did the other mirror too. 

They match and you can't tell anything happened to it.
