2nd service
« on: November 01, 2011, 04:16:20 AM »
Is the 2nd 3750 mile service anything more then a glorified oil change? Is there anything in particular I need to pay attention to if I do it myself?

The official next oil change is at 7500 miles.  The only things on this so called 2nd service are inspection checks.  You can change the oil/filter/rear drive oil and such if you want to (might not be a bad idea) and then change again at 7500.  From there you can then go to whatever interval you want on the oil changes and such as long as you don't exceed the 7500.

I figured I'd go ahead and change the oil before I put the bike up for the winter.

So soon? I'm hoping to have another month of riding time before I put her up.

Whats that 6 letter word you talk about,  WINTER
Don't know what that means here in California  8)
Change it again before you ride it next season.
I had mine in at 600 miles just because, I change the oil and filter every 3000 miles and final drive fluid every 6,000 miles. The next time mine will see the shop is for the 15,000 miles service. That should be around March 2012.

I'm hoping to ride for another month or so myself. I'm just not sure mother nature is going to cooperate.  We had our 1st snow this past weekend.

I'm about ready to winterize my bike this weekend. The snow we got on 10/29 sucked! I I haven't ridden any considerable distance in two weeks. So I'm riding it up to my brothers garage and changing the oil, and setting her up for her winter nap.

So sad...     :'(

On the plus side, my snowmobiles are both ready to rock. We don't have any snow yet but it won't be long.

Winterize? I did that by breaking out the sweatshirts; you know 70 degrees can chill the bone. Actually we may hit the upper 50's this weekend. :o

I just had a second service done at 3800 miles. Switched to synthetic, changed the shaft oil, etc. I don't have time for any issues and I like another set of eyes going through my bike every few thousand miles.

Good attitude.
Now let's discuss that synthetic oil...  ;D
