That biker has seen some ****. The way he calmly applied brake pressure and kept from impulse swerving was a sign of good habits. He slowed down enough to safely enter the shoulder and check the feel on his tires to make sure something didn't puncture them, without slowing enough to risk being plowed into from behind by a car that lost composure or control. Then he was all out of f***s to give and kept going.
