Calsci windshield Issues
« on: November 06, 2016, 12:09:21 PM »
I recently purchased a new Calsci Touring Xtra Wide windshield for my 2010 Connie. Finally back from a short vacation  and a few days of nice weather I installed the windshield and headed out. Rode about 225 miles on a round trip adventure with a little lunch involved and when I returned to my house I observed the following damage to my baby. See pics, scratched dash, and new windshield and dug into both body panels adjacent to my mirrors. I called Calsci aND they sent me out a 3 step polish kit for the windshield, told me to put some electrical tape on my Dash and that the now dented/messed up plastic was just cosmetic and would not effect the bike. Also if I a wanted I could mark the windshield with a marker and send it back to them and they would remove some plastic from the windshield to prevent it from rubbing in the future. Hell I fell like my windshield is being used as R&D for them to perfect their product. I figured that at the least they would have opted to replace the damaged parts as their windshield caused it. Maybe they should send out a black piece of vinyl that would have prevented the windshield from coming into contact with my Dash in the first place, and there end statement is that each bike has a little different tolerance from the other. I'm not satisfied with this response and will be pursuing a different approch, like returning this windshield for a refund. And replace the damaged parts with those funds.

My tinted shorty has that roundish mark, same as yours... but with the tint, I only see it from the back when the screen is up. My CalSci Large (not the wide version) hasn't been on the bike in years, but doesn't have a mark on it.

I've had shields do that especially at the higher speeds where the wind pushes it closer to the bike.

I have the Cal-Sci Xlarge/Xwide on my C14 right now.. have taken a couple trips on it, don't think I've been over 90mph with that screen on - it is massive! - but I don't have either of those marks on my screen or bike... it would have to be pushing really hard to do that, at least on mine. It's almost like the screen comes down too far in the lowered position or something ..  ???

I tried a Calsci windshield, a xtra wide tall. I did not like it due to what I felt was less than professional workmanship. They did refund my money but not 60 bucks worth of shipping both ways.  The windshield was also ineffective.

It is a poorly construed shield. I  has the Same issues. I took it off as it was also ineffective Bailey is way better.

No problems at all with my Calsci tinted shorty.

You didn't notice your new screen coming into contact with the dash area right after you installed it?
