Seat Cowl
« on: April 25, 2016, 11:33:31 AM »
I was bored and decided I wanted a seat cowl since I never ride two up.  I found one from a ZX-14 for $20 and decided to give it a go since I'm running a ZX-14 seat.

I simply bolted it onto the seat and sat it on the bike with the rear rack (the black piece) removed and started marking where I thought it needed to be cut down.  I used an air cutoff wheel for the end piece that had to come off and a die grinder with a roloc pad to slowly grind openings for the rear supports.  After about an hour of grinding and test fitting, I was able to get the rear to latch.  Any imperfections in my openings are covered by the rack.

Maybe this will inspire others as I've seen other people ask about it, but after a lot of searching, could not find a single successful attempt/picture.

Enjoy,
Jason

I'm not sure what color I want it to be.  I quickly painted it the aluminum color you see.  It was BRIGHT blue.

That is pretty cool looking!

I took the opposite approach.  Since I will never have a passenger, my Sargent seat has a storage pod.  It came as unpainted glossy black and I just left it that way.  I keep it waxed and it seems to do fine (to my surprise).

That sucker is a quiet, efficient, considerate, non-restrictive (for the stock headers), no-cost, stock muffler (which also happens to be big and heavy, but hey, you can't have everything!)
