New to me 09 red C14 ABS with 12k miles.
Excited to take her on multi-day tours come spring. Great forum and lots of helpful information!
I see you are "inseam challenged" on this bike. While I don't have that problem I always get worried with I see other riders on their toes when stopped. You might check a couple of options:
1) 50 profile rear tire (vs. a 55) will get you about 1/2". 50 series is OEM but many riders put 55 on the rear.
2) Custom Seat, I have a Seth Laam. Super comfortable but I think he can get you 1" or so of lowering. (This doesn't affect ground clearance either!)
3) Lowering links for the rear shock. Easy and inexpensive.
4) You can lower the front with straps or sliding the fork tubes up 1/2" or so in the triple-clamps.
With all this you could easily get 2" or perhaps a bit more and probably flat-foot at a stop.
Haha. It does seem like I'm "inseam challenged". I was surprised at the height when I first got it - i'm 5'10" and thought I would be flat footed. My left foot is flat footed in that photo and the bike is angled to the left a bit but I wouldn't mind it being maybe a 1/2" or so lower. Not so much that I would want to change parts other than maybe swapping the standard sargent for a low profile one. My feet on always on the pegs, even when going very low speed in stop and go traffic and I'm never off the pegs unless my foot is going down at a stop so the seat height is not too bad for me for now.
I'm not seeing a Sargent seat in the photos. That looks like an OEM seat to me.
Connie_rider - Thanks! I'm in the land of the worse drivers in the country - I mean that literally, at least one car that runs red lights at EVERY intersection - Manhattan.
"You think" is right! Try riding in Los Angeles...Sheesh!
Welcome and you'll love the bike!
At least in California they run the lights on purpose. Here in Florida, there so old that their reaction time is so delayed, that they cant get the foot on the brake soon enough to make a stop on a yellow light. Or their so old, they dont notice that they are in an intersection
