Smyrna Tn. tell me, is it livable?
I have a great offer for a job, and its a perfect fit for my experience, but I want to rent a haome, with some land, somewheres I a 30 mile radius of the place...

I'm currently living on an awesome plot with a nature sanctuary adjacent, but that's up for sale now, and perfect timing for me to move, and resume work..
any local help on this would be apreciated, I love riding down there, now it may be a future homestead...

tell me about the area, and what I could expect as far as costs of living, and pitfalls.. please

I'm thinking you're thinking Smyrna, right?  If so, it was one of the best places to retire to in 2007.  So working there may not be so bad.

Smyrna is a nice place, and convenient to bigger metro areas (Nashville, Murfreesboro, etc) to make it easy to get anything required. There should be plenty of places with acreage available there.  I
 just had dinner at Hickory Falls in Smyrna last night, so there's at least 1 good restaurant   Actually Famous Dave's BBQ isn't too bad, nor is Cheddars, or Jim & Nick's BBQ.
Of course, you can point your bike in almost any direction and find a good road. 
State parks aren't too far, good for hiking and all.  Good hunting & fishing in the area if that's still your game.
The roads are great.
Smokies aren't too far, nor is Chattanooga or Knoxville.
Did I mention roads are great?

thanks for the info guys, I have to play this one by ear, as we did a move to Va in 2002, and back up to Ohio in late 2011, it damned near killed us, so we are a bit aprehensive of leaving "our hometown" again.
Also without working for the last year, we greatly depleted or savings.... so finding a rental house, with adequate storage and garage facilities for the new SkUnKwErKz, that has some land to feel comfy on might be the biggest factor now... I have to see what transpires with the headhunters and company, and get an interview.... when and if that happens, I'll spend a few days scouting those areas east and southeast of there...
I sooo much hate moving....
