Rich, I really like these little tidbits of advice that you periodically leak out. Thanks

you are very welcome, I try to alleviate the potential problems before they happen, and we have proven the inadequacy of the C14 fasteners over and over.

that's why they paid me the big $$ when I was tech Editor... :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

To all:
yes the parts are        Rotor:  EBC MD4155XC
        Pad   :  EBC 417 HH
The correct replacement 4155 arrived from Amazon and installed along with new pads from Murphs. Luckily I needed a new front tire and it was ready and I put that on too. I had to send the wrong 4152 back to Amazon, they sent me a prepaid UPS label. I found out the rotor fits a ZZR 600 and I assume various other midsize Kawis.

I also ground my allen wrenches per Ricks suggestion and they came out well. During the initial pad check that revealed the undersized rotor I had rounded out one of the pin pads but managed to get it out after trying various suggested techniques from the COG site. I ordered 4 new pad pins as well. The C14 should now be ready for the MSTA national next month.

Also, being a tool junkie I happened to have a new set of allens. I checked them out and they are also chamfered. Makes you wonder why they make them like that.

true "Allen"wrenches ( the ones actually made by Allen, and stamped as such on each one) have no chamfer, I have the Allen spec handook for screws and tools, giving all the dimensions (engineering manual) and they have sharp ends, as do all my true Allen keys... I used to get them from our screw supplier for free... also, all the L keys I have purchased from McMaster Carr, are sharp.. the cheap ones are all chamfered, as the tumble clean and deburr them after the hardening process, or prior to doing plating / phosphate/oxide coating.

resist the temptation to buy stainless allen keys and bits also, they are much softer than the black ones....
