Mirrors question?
« on: April 19, 2016, 12:19:57 PM »
Are the mirror assemblies the same through all years?  I have an "08" and there is a "10" on eBay but I'm not sure if it will fit.  I know the colored panel on top will be different but that can be swapped.  Thanks for any help

Nope! They changed in 2010.

Edit update: OK,I just saw your other post. So you want to repair internal parts on your '08 with parts from a '10? You're not asking if you can mount a '10 on an '08 which is what my original answer was for. I still doubt it will be the same but I don't really know.

It would be nice if Kawasaki would show all the internal parts of the mirror assembly on their parts diagrams even if they won't sell them to us so we could research this. You really need someone with experience with both mirrors to answer this. I suppose some creative drilling and tapping and strapping with liberal usage of JB Weld won't work for your broken bracket? Know anyone with KLR experience?...they can probably fix it, won't be pretty but I bet it will work.  ;)

I know the location changed, but I don't think the mirror did...

No I was asking if I could change the entire mirror. The aluminum bracket that is connected to the fairing with three bolts is broken in half. The mirror is fine except for rash and at this point I'm not too anal about that. I just want a proper looking mirror on both sides.

Then get a 09 or below.  You should be able to pop the colored piece and replace it with  your color.

GenII '10-'16

GenI '08-'09

Despite what the ebayers are saying about them fitting all years, take a look at the metal and the plastic to see they are not the same between generation I & II.
The stud pattern may be the same but even if it matches up for fastening it's not going to look right and you've already got that now.
