pick up a $10 burner phone and give the guy a call. Get his hopes up, then crush him.
Contacted a guy who was selling a sports car. The story was that he had to leave the country for work and was going to use a 3rd party to handle the transaction. He even used a legitimate name of a company that lists cars for sale. The link he provided though was to a fake website.
I played with him for a little while and acted like I was on the hook. Then I threw him a curve ball and said that I would be in the area where the car was stored so I would like to view it in person.
He made up some excuse and then I asked for him to provide the VIN # so I could ask my friend in law enforcement to run it and make sure it matched up with his name.
His next email stated that the vehicle was no longer for sale.
