Bought V&H CS One Used, Gotta Question
« on: March 18, 2015, 06:51:22 PM »
Today I won an Ebay auction for the stainless version of the CS1.  I bought it from a nice local fella with great feedback.  The pipe was only installed for a couple of K and the seller still has instructions etc.  For $ 217.50, I thought it was fair.  My question is whether there are key things i should be looking for when i go pick it up.  Assuming the booklet has a breakdown of what is supposed to be included, I intend to make sure all pieces and parts are included.  Other than that, anybody have any advice regarding inspection?  Thanks!

The guy that sold me a used one left out the rear bracket to mount it. Luckily I was able to fab my own. I'm kinda gifted like that. 8)
No good pics to show it though...

Thanks.  I'll make sure and ask about that mount.  I'm no fabricator

They should also come with a black heat shield, I believe. Curious how well that works, so I can inquire if it can be bought by itself from V&H. I might not need it, but that's the only option I can think of. There's also the option of a 'quiet insert' to make less noise, if you so desire. Good luck.

Thanks.  I'm picking it up today.  Installation seems pretty simple for an old grease monkey.  I'm confident the guy will have everything, but I am ready to inspect it and get it on the bike.  Electric cars sound cooler than a stock C14  :-\

I think you're really gonna like it. I've only had my connie for about a month and, while I enjoyed the electric rush of the stock system, I needed to hear the engine a little more. I snagged a Two Brothers on Amazon and it was a breeze to change and really enhanced the ride quality. I wear foam earplugs religiously to cut down on wind noise so the result is a nice, mellow, tone.
Good luck, ride safe

Even the Jetson's car sounds better than the stock bazooka. I have really enjoyed my CS-1 the last 3 years, and it makes Connie very 'operatic' when wanted- the fat lady can sing.

It has a nice burble at idle, but at WOT as you get on it, its heavenly.

You guys are right.  Picked it up today.  It was in outstanding condition and, as expected, easy to install.  Sounds much, much better.  I could probably handle it a little bit louder at idle and under 4-5k but man it begins to sing after that!  I generally wear ear plugs too, but it'll be nice to hear a little bit of that growl.  Thanks again.  I dont know what these generally sell for used but i feel like I stole it. Thanks for y'all's input.
