words of praise [about the forums]
« on: January 02, 2015, 08:58:22 PM »
This isn't a post about a problem or a modification or supplier of cheap parts etc. but just a word of thanks to all of your expertise and wisdom shared through this forum. Several times I've avoided hefty mechanics fees and even more expensive guess work by reading the information here. Just now I've fixed my sticking ignition switch which , by the way , had me completely stumped. Simply by researching the wealth of information contained herein, a quick application of contact cleaner, compressed air and a quick sparing squirt of stuff we get here called inox, which is a non-conductive lubricant, and all fixed!! That pesky micro-switch has met it's match.
So keep up the free flow of information and the good humour, you're saving me and probably heaps of others as well, loadsa cash. In my eyes at least, you're a bunch of champions. Well done!

It's better to be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and confirm the fact. (Like I always do)

  • It's only really cold if you fall down in it.

Really? Not me- I am here for the sarcasm, cruelty, pain and suffering.

 :rotflmao:

This forum was really useful in the early days of the C-14 because it allowed us to share information on a brand new bike that no one knew much, if anything, about. It is still good today and I do not mean to imply it has declined, just that with everyone being absolutely new to the bike, it was great to learn things from others discovering things as we all went along. Now there is a lot of information available from dealers, vendors and a lot of farkles for sale. But back in 2007, we were all stumbling around in the dark with this thing....

I have to agree with the OP. I find this forum to be full of great information. My latest was my inquiry about wire size for my driving lights, as this info proved to be spot on and the project worked out perfectly.

Compared to the ADV Rider site, this is a kid glove, love for all, forum.  The info shared, especially with Brian being able to continue to bring insight and often insanity to us newbies to the 14, has allowed me to enjoy the bike better and get to know some great folks.

FWIW, the UK site is equally fine, but not as active.  Also too much discussions of VAT's, MOT's,  British Pounds, and A and B motorways, what ever they are....Something to do with roads with or without pot holes, maybe.   ;D ;D

I should thank the group as well. I have been here since about 2009. After I bought my 2008. I have been given so much knowledge about these bikes from here. I think the forum crashed once or twice since I joined. So glad it came back.

Indeed.  It messed me all up and stuff.

Must be an unfortunate side-effect of a lack of riding of late, but that silly poster had me giddy with laughter!

I don't drink and don't get it, so I guess I am hopeless.
