C14 Baldwin Solo leather custom saddle - SOLD
« on: May 31, 2015, 03:11:12 PM »
Baldwin Solo leather saddle. Stitched full leather cover, high-density foam inside. It's the same thing you see here: http://www.motorbikesaddles.com/Kawasaki%20Concours%2014.htm, which is $570 new.

Rode for about a week, and it's great up front - there's a reason it's called the "Solo", however. The slipperiness of the leather combined with the non-upturned profile of the pillion portion tends to make the passenger come sliding into the driver.

If you spend most of your time alone on your C14, then this will be a great saddle for you. It's in nearly-brand-new shape.

Shipping from Minneapolis, MN.

Does this saddle raise you higher than a stock saddle or is it about the same height or lower than stock?

Thanks.

Feels about the same height as stock. Tell you what, I'll go measure - I've got a stock saddle on it right now.

OK, here's what I could do for comparison. All four photos were taken with the bike on the side stand.

The first two photos are taken from the right side, with the camera lens aligned with the 33" mark. Stock saddle, then Baldwin.

The second two are from the left side, with the base of the phone touching the handlebar. Stock saddle, then Baldwin.

Sitting on them one after the other, my knees feel like they're bent about the same amount. The Baldwin is noticeably firmer.

Thanks for the information and measurements.  Right now I am looking first for something that is a little lower than stock.  I tried a Sargent low seat and found that it was not comfortable.  I will keep your seat in mind if I can't find some other alternative.

What, ~2mm isn't lower enough for you?!   :)

Hope you find a good solution. I've seen that some custom seat manufacturers will even let you specify whether you want more or less padding to make a taller or lower saddle height, so a) you can probably get something made to your specs, and b) it's definitely a good idea to check out the height of any individual used saddle you're looking at, because there might be variances even from the same manufacturer.
