Great Letter to the editor Move expected.
« on: October 02, 2014, 01:34:52 PM »
Disclamer:  This post in not meant to offend anyone on this site.   It is posted in a satirical nature.

I posted the letter to the editor here to see if "The big guy with the sword" would move it.  I figured he would.  "BUT WHY"?

The folks in the Arena, ie:  :grouphug: know all about this stuff.  They live it every day.  BUT-----, the folks in the general population may not know anything about this stuff.  They need to be brought into the real world.  They need to be shown reality.

Doesn't the explanation of this site say. "The place to chat around a virtual camp fire."   Why is my posting of a very civil "letter to the editor" not,
"a chat around a virtual camp fire."? I can see girl scouts or members of a church camp discussing this letter around a virtual camp fire.  Are we to believe the folks in the general population of this site can't be exposed to a civil letter to the editor that is truly fit for girl scouts?

If the letter to the editor I posted is too:  hard, bad, controversial, shocking for the eyes of the general population of this site, they had better start putting lace on their bikes so we can spot them on the road.      :chugbeer:

I am not Jim and will not speak for him but this is what I think:  That post you made was not based on fact but rather on someone's opinion, and it is much more likely to provoke emotional, even heated responses (on both sides) instead of any logical, thoughtful conversation. That is why I think it got moved to the Arena.... again, not speaking for Jim nor have I spoken with him about this so this is just my opinion.

We address the social problems and situations of our country (the US as well as most first- world nations) via the tool of politics, unfortunately. But what happens is that the tool is what ends up getting all the attention and effort when it is really irrelevant and ends up getting in the way of what we are really trying to do (or should be trying to do IMO). So for all the emotion and concentration on politics, it not only does not deal with any real issues but actually masks those issues. We have forgotten, or maybe never knew, that the real goal has always been how we want out society to run, not who is using what tool to try to accomplish that goal.

Edited to add: for whatever this is worth, I think Jim is a superb moderator- generally 'hands off' and once that won't work, he uses a light touch to generally shoo us in the right direction rather than using a sledgehammer. In this instance, he did not remove your post, he merely put it someplace he thought better suited for it (as far as I know- I do not visit the arena).

I agree 100%.  See my post in the Arean addressing this exact point.  Jim is probably the best Mod. I have seen in on the internet.

But you guys do need to get out more.   The Arena thinks I should see more of the "general population" and I thing the "general population" need to visit the Arena more often.   Remember we don't bite.  (often)  :battle:   :stirpot:

Fixed that,
We know there are a different set of rules, and definitions used in  :grouphug: plainly put, it was a test posed by you....
You pretty much presumed the outcome right off. Your test worked. Thanks for the effort.
Jim is a kind person, no need to test him, he's busy enough reminding Brian and me to stay nice, and play well with others.

True- Jim is good enough to make me a better person I think and I have only said that about one other human in the last 20, 30 years. Institutions (business, agencies, etc., etc., even forums) have personalities and Jim sets the pace for this forum's personality IMO. I only visit two forums and the other one has nothing to do with motorcycles.... and that one does not have this warm, cuddly, family feeling.

Dogs make me a better person but hey, they are the best 'people' of all, right?  ;)

Clark's life expectancy on ADV, as upward as they are, and permitting 4 letterlingo even, would be counted in breaths....
