If you read the thread, you know that I replaced the filter right before the rally, so I have the part number. But thanks...
Yes, it may be a hot weather/venting issue. In 1500 miles since returning from the rally, I have not been able to duplicate the problem. Yes, it has been warm, and I have run the fuel down to the LOW FUEL point.
Shiny new pump and two even shinier new filters await. I think I will pull the tank lid/vent goodies apart and see what is going on there. I will pull the pump n filter later when I do the big Valve Clearance and Plugs Day. Soon, but apparently no need to hurry and fix the pump.
Maybe the threat of replacement has made the pump behave. Go ahead and laugh. I have been doing this maintenance business for a while, and have seen it happen too many times...

I won't laugh. I face this with computer systems and equipment ALL THE TIME.
This happened today.... Starting from a stop, into a right-hand turn, BARELY had the clutch engaged, throttle twisted about 25-35%, engine caughed and died.... Thank God for Canyon Cages!!!
That said, my bike has been doing this more and more... In a straight line, while accellerating from a stop, it will surge for quite a distance until I let off the throttle, or pull the clutch and blip the throttle. Even with a warm engine. This is the first time its actually died tho.
90* ambient when the engine died.
New gas from one of the 3 stations I frequent (which are all very busy)
Hot-o-meter at 1 bar above center.
9,500 miles on the bike.
Had ridden about 200 yds from where I was parked, stopped at a stop sign, went to pull away and she sputtered and died.
Ill have to see if i can get it on video sometime soon. I usually forget i have my GoPro running when it happens so i forget to stop the recording so it doesn't get erased.
Do I take it to the shop for warrenty? Or just nut up and fox it myself? (Which I'm fully comfortable doing, but i don't want to void the warrenty)
