Do I need to pull the left fairing like it say's in the instructions or is there a another way.

You need to remove it to access the connector. Using the overflow bottle screw for ground is not recommended.

Yes, you need to pull off the plastic. Would be nice if there were a better way, but there is just no getting around it.

Be careful, it is easy to plug into the wrong connector, there is more than one that it will fit into!

Just warn her before you use the wrong one... Advisable to ensure the connector is clean first too.
