Can you ID my windshield?
« on: December 13, 2013, 06:50:08 AM »
Being new to the Concours, a lot of the time I'm not sure what I'm looking at....whether something is a stock set up or an aftermarket mod.

Like my windshield. Is this stock....or a mod? And if the latter, can anyone positively ID it?

It's 21.5" and has an adjustable louver vent. Not seeing any precise matches on the various online pix I've seen.

Taken in my crowded garage this morning.....

Thots?  Thanx!

Not stock for sure.... The stocker never had a vent plus it had a very pronounced flare to the top edge. Is that shield completely flat or is it slightly flaired at the top? I'm thinking it may be an old Clearview branded shield. As to the adjustable vent again that looks like something that was made for the Old Wing crowd back in the day; you used to see them sold as add-on parts in the JCW catalogs and might also be a Clearview product.

It's got a slight flare at the top. Not nearly as drastic as some I've seen.

T Cro....good call. Pretty sure it's a Clearview.

From their website:

The vent on mine is clear, but this looks like a real close match.

Thanx!

I believe the Clearview I had (once upon a time) had a small logo or name on it...somewhere down along where the bolt holes are...seems like I had to look closely to find it...

Looks more like a Targa windshield with a GW vent installed.  The Clearview seems to extend out past the sides of the fairing, while the Targa doesn't.

I saw that, too, but figured perhaps I had an older model. But the Clearview is listed as 22", and the Targa does indeed come as a 21.5 (as I have).

Thanx.

Anyone can install the goldwing vent to pretty much any windshield (except maybe the Gaustason -sp?).  The curve of most of the replacement windshields matches up pretty good.  Mine is a Cee Bailey - notice the logo stamped into the bottom center.  I don't think CBs do the top flip-up section either.  I've heard Targa's are delivered with no holes and no markings.  I don't have one to verify this though but have heard their shape is very good though for sound and buffeting.
