they do not know how it all works either.

Sure we do,....it's the Pixies that do it all.
They sneak in and tweak the uuujamafibble until the framanjier is at optimum, leading to a large increase in shamalamabingbong.
Obvious really!

Just another followup to this after riding on a warm day:

I would only bother taking the vent deflectors off if you like the style (which I personally do).  Don't do it for comfort reasons:  It'll cause you to get hit with more cold air in the winter, and allow more engine heat to mix with outside air against your legs in the summer.  I'll probably put them back on because it'll just be one more thing that my wife will throw out when I'm not looking.

I leave mine off in the overall scheme of balancing comfort and heat management.
Also have removed the foams from everywhere but the radiator sides, and trimmed the lower fairing rear openings to increase flow and blending.

The results have been lowered engine temps and greatly increased comfort for me.

A Kawi factory rep commented to me that they wished they could have done just that, but had issues with decibel levels to contend with at the time.

Mine have been off since 2008, I ride %95 of the time with full gear and I have noticed zero difference and I like the looks much better.  They just look much like an after thought.

"HEAT" whats all this heat you guys talking bout!!!! lol..
Its gets over 120* (direct sunlight) here in Louisiana, so the heat off the engine is the last of my worries!!!
