Garmin Nuvi Mount

Anyone ever mount a Garmin Nuvi to your tach face with the suction cup windshield mount? I realize that you would lose the view of the tach but out on the highway it really wouldn't matter. I've also seen a cigarette lighter mount. Anyone ever use one of those? Thanks.

I use an EZ-Roller cradle with 1" ram mount for my Nuvi 3450. Absolutely rock solid. It cradles the car mount and holds the micro USB solid. Never comes out. I have a 1" ram ball for my Horizon ST bars. But there are several options for adding a ram ball with the C14 horns.

No, I've never done that, but mere lack of valuable experience rarely keeps me from having an opinion  ::) :P . Since the Garmin can show you your speed more accurately than the C14 speedo', I think I'd put it on the left, and leave your tach readable (as well as your ABS and KTRAC lights if so equiped). I needed to raise my Zumo up above the gauges because I was becoming dangerous to myself and others with it down low.

Understand but if you do go with suction, I would put a lanyard of some sort on it. If it fails on a car it just falls to the dash or carpet. But on a bike...

If it's only a Nuvi and it falls just let it go, the cost to replace them is less than the damage it will do banging around on all your bodywork attached to a lanyard at highway speed IMO...

It seems pretty darn secure. I'll attach a lanyard anyway. If it comes loose it'll only fall as far as the triple clamp.

Never mind ZG, he buys a new Nuvi when the battery goes dead, that way he doesn't have to mess with those pesky chargers and wires and such...    ;)

+1 on this. You can add a ram ball mount for ease of removing the whole Garmin and its cradle or screw it on this mount and just take off the Garmin.

Just got back from my trip. 500 miles and 0 issues with the Garmin mounted to the tach face using the windshield suction cup mount. The thing sticks so well that it feels like you could pull the whole instrument cluster off with it. Definitely a viable solution for occasional use.

I have Murphs risers with a RAM ball on it, works great on my Zumo 200.  Love that thing.  The power is permanently mounted so it's never an issue. Even used it in a recent car (yes, one of those things with 4 wheels) out west.
