It would depend of the value. If you think you are going to gain, say, $5k by fighting it, it probably isn't worth your time because the lawyer will eat all of that and more. If you are talking 10x's that, a lawyer would be worth it.
Most lawyers will give you a free consult. I'd contact a couple of them and see what they have to say.
A few years ago, I was T-Boned by a red light runner in what, by all indications, was an uninsured borrowed vehicle.
My insurance company now wants to settle with me ($Check) and wants me to sign a release, releasing them and all of their associates/affiliates from all future claims.
My question is, how can I determine that no satellite company of theirs has a liability policy on the vehicle that hit me. I have asked them to provide letter to that effect, but so far they have refused to cooperate in that area.
They have provided a copy of the court judgment against the vehicle owner who failed to show up at the hearing and the judgment is about 25% of what they are offering me.
