Turn indicators flash all four lights
« on: May 28, 2013, 08:39:38 AM »
Just got back from a four day ride and noticed on my commute today that when I use my turn indicators, all four lights flash. Both dash lights flash as well. Same thing whether I switch left or right, it acts like my hazards are on. I'm assuming it's in the flash module (I can hear the relay under the seat), but just wanted to check and see if anyone had any additional info or insight.

Thanks.

  • Year of bike
  • Have you done any electrical modifications?
  • This sounds vaguely familiar...
  • I'm thinking and thinking and nothing is happening...

Disasemble. clean, cover contacts in lithium grease, reasemble and ride.  Or Join the Patriot Guard and your bases are covered :)

Sorry, Jim. I'ts a 2009 that I bought new in early '09. I had a GPS power wire ran when I bought the bike new. Same with a pigtail for charging the battery. No electrical mods have been done since then. I'll take Silverdammit's advice when I get home today and see what that turns up.

I really think we had someone else come up with that issue...  I'll do a bit of nosing around.

OK, resolved but still weird. On the way home today still having the same issue. Get to a stop and wonder what happens when I use my hazards. Switch them on and they function as they should. Then try the turn signals again and now they work normally. Not sure what the issue was--still suspect something in the flasher relay, but I'll keep an eye on it.

You should put the model year and perhaps color in your signature or avatar text.

probably not the same thing but my 2003 Chev Tahoe did the same. It was a relay stuck in the flasher electronics. Could be your problem and running the 4 ways released the relay.
