Hello from middle Tennessee
« on: February 09, 2013, 05:49:13 PM »
Yup, another forum newbee! Been lurking for a while now, and soaking in useful information. Been riding motorcycles since I was 13 (Honda 100) back in '74. February of 2012 I purchased a black Concours 14. Back in 2008, I had considered one as I was looking for a street bike to replace the Kawasaki 750turbo I sold the year prior. I ended up springing for the 2K8Z1K which I still have - as well as my '99 Yamaha WR-400F.  :) (with ridiculous resale values of used motorcycles, it doesn't make sense to sell anything).   ???

Anyway, wave if you see a black C14 in the TN area!   ;)

Welcome! I too live in the Middle TN area (Smyrna). Haven't made much time to ride lately (need a better job). But if you see a red 09' there's a good chance it's me. Oh, congrats on the purchase by the way!

Welcome to the forum!  You may find it a lot nicer atmosphere than some of the other "Kawi ST" forums you may stumble upon

Thanks for the welcomes folks!   :D   :chugbeer:

Hey twowheel! 'sup? I do visit the Riderforums, but maybe not as much since acquiring the C14. Still have the 2K8Z1K and is a hoot to ride. Did you notice activity drop-off for the gen I & II when the 2010 Z came out? All the activity is in the gen III area now. I recall seeing you around there for sure!

This past weekend, I cruised the TN-840 from west to east, after picking it up outside of Centerville, off of TN-50. I was on I-40 headed west when it turned into parking lot due to the gal that was killed and found around mm145. Took the 700lb beast off-roadin' to get eastbound and out of there. Anyway, just want to put on miles.

Welcome aboard.  Eastern Tenn has some great roads, so it shouldn't be too hard to get those miles on.

More Ninja 1000 posts than Z1000 posts when I click on new posts.  I mostly look at the new rider posts, Ninja 650 and of course the Mean Streak posts.

Sounds like you are close to the Natchez Trace.  Not sure why you would ride TN-840 and I-40 unless you were in a hurry to get somewhere.  A lot of great roads when you stay away from Nashville.

Head over to Leiper Fork.  You might even run into Mike Wolfe.

I really like it out there! My first trip through the Dragon was in my Nissan Frontier - crazy. Anyway, here's a couple of pics from the area.

I also have an '08 and a WR-400. Welcome!

It hasn't been that convenient to get out and ride, for me. In 2011, I replaced the original front tire because the knobs were cracked and falling off! It hasn't been out since.  :(  Seems like it is destine to be wall art!

I certainly hear ya twowheel.  ;)

The plan wasn't to ride 840, but I did want to get over to Jackson along I-40 and then cut north to Paducah and come down the middle of LBL. The THP designated crime scene on I-40W brought it to a parking lot. Had to adjust the plans from that point. Since my G4 headset fubar'd in my helmet while I was suited-up and ready to go, I had to deal with that. Oh, and that was right after my heated jacket liner harness decided it wanted to just undo itself as I was putting it on. Both made me miss my departure time.  >:( Then, from Ashland CIty to Charnotte on TN-49, some joker wanted to do 15mph under the posted limit on double-line pavement, and not willing to let collecting traffic pass!   >:( Then, the I-40 stop. Too many things indicating to just go home. That's when I said, nope! Just keep it simple, now. Everyone has had those days, right?  ;D

Been on the Natchez Trace too many times now. This photo is from a few weeks ago. Must have been getting a little silly at the moment. I've been passed by a pick-up truck and a Prius since I don't push anything on that road.

Sounds like you're doing better than me. Haven't had much time or desire to ride since moving to TN in September. Hope to ride a little of the Natchez before too long. Maybe we can get a TN ride together sometime.
