Ok, I'm an idiot.  Went for a ride today and topped off the tank with good ole premium and a little Stabil.  Oh yeah, you know the little foil/cardboard "seal" you have to pull off a new bottle of Stabil?  Yeah, that's now in my gas tank.  So question is, pull the tank and get that out of there immediately or can it wait?   ::)

Oh I'm chuckling at that...  It won't get sucked out the fuel pump cause it's so large but it might clog it a bit when it dissolves.  I think I would grumble some and then pump out as much gas as I could and then pull the tank and the pump to find it.

That is, *IF* it dissolves.  I mean, it is designed to hold back petrol-like chemicals....

If it dissolved it's gone, if it doesn't it's too big to get sucked up on to small to plug the sock. I wouldn't worry about it.

Do not worry, I did the same thing over a year ago and have put over 10,000 miles on it since with no problem, fill it up with gas and ride.

I'd pull the tank and pump. Too easy to do.  I think the bit dropped in may have a cardboard backing which may or may not dissolve.

The offending piece of foil is no bigger than a dime about the size of the oring inthis picture. I just don't see it as being an issue.

If it worries you, pull the tank and fix it. Doesn't matter if its not a big problem. If it harshes your buzz, fix it. My 2 cents...

Might I suggest taking a gas can and a piece of hose (preferably larger than the piece) and siphoning out the gas hoping to suck up the offending object?  Move the hose around the tank hoping to pick it up.  If that doesn't work Fuhgettaboutit!  It wasn't meant to be!

I was thinking similarly.  I have a squeeze bulb siphon hose that is small but might create a vacuum and hold on to the foil to pull it out.
