Concours 14 bursts into flames in Lake Oswego, Oregon
« on: October 09, 2012, 08:16:28 AM »
I saw this on the news last night and thought I would share it:

http://lakeoswego.katu.com/news/news/496329-fire-destroys-lake-oswego-police-motorcycle

I'm not 100% positive it's a Connie, but I know the Lake Oswego PD had a couple in their garage...

I'd bet money it's not a C14. Shape of the gas tank is wrong.

My guess is ST1300 or possibly an FJR.

Edit: Definitely ST1300

The pipes are a dead giveaway.  I concur, ST1300.

Yeah, they have some ST's too. Now that you point out the pipes, It's definitely not a Connie. Feel free to delete/lock this thread, I was wrong...

Just because it is not a C-14 does not mean we should not blame it on <the k-word>. Maybe a fob got close to that bike earlier in the day?

And it keeps tigers away. There is also a rumor going around that if you throw the fob in with the wash, even stubborn stains are easily removed (from the clothes, not the fob).

It's not so bad.  Take everything apart and let it dry.  Replace the battery and Bob's your uncle, it works fine.  Smells nice too.

From the article:

Investigators have not determined an exact cause, but think the fuel in the gas tank contributed to the rapidly spreading flames

Known for this?  All big cc motorcycles will do this if they get hot enough... my C14 will do this... FJR's will do this... HD's will do it.  It's not just a ST1300 issue.
