How to save money on a carb rebuild - NOT!
« on: September 27, 2012, 12:33:10 PM »
Been seeing this alot lately. Destroyed diaphrams from previous rebuilds that apparently didn't work out so well. Replaceable at a cost of 102.15 EA. This is from a set of carbs I'm currently doing. 3 destroyed. Did a set last week with 2 destroyed. I can't make this stuff up... Steve

Small holes might happen from dirt sanding it's way through. Very rare, but I have seen it. These diaphrams were pinched and cut when the person who worked on them didn't keep them seated while screwing the top down. Steve

I see via the might Google that there are alternate diaphrams available for some other Keihin CV carbs -- not ours, of course. Since these slides are now useless, might it be possible to use one to see if a mold for a replacement diaphram could be fabricated?

the owner graciously donated them to me for "scientific research". You're correct, I can't find any aftermarket diaphrams that fit either. don't know if I'm up to having a mold made to manufacture these either - Steve
