Looking to buy
« on: August 22, 2012, 09:28:59 AM »
I have been on the C14 board for awhile. I sold my 09 and now I'm looking for another bike. I cane across a 2004 C10 with 32,000 miles on it for $3200. I know nothing about the C10 so does it sound like a good deal and what should I look for when I check out the bike. Does the C10 seat slide you into the tank like the C14 does?

2004 Kawasaki Concours with all the upgrades, Rifle windshield,Galfer front brake lines,Progressive fork springs,Gen Mar bar risers,ThrottleMeister cruise control,Pathblazer oscillating headlight,Gizmomill led pulsing brake light,Shad detachable locking tour pak,K -N air and oil filter,NGK iridium plugs,Corbin seat,Avon tires, Azaro rear n Storm front. The bike is in excellent condition with 32,200 miles and runs great! I also have the covers for when the bags are removed as well as the rear stock luggage rack and cover that was removed so the Shad tour pak could be mounted.I'm looking to sell because i want to downsize to a smaller bike! A GREAT PRICE ON A GREAT BIKE WITH ALL THE POPULAR UPGRADES! p.s. the pics show the bike with the optional Cobra mufflers that i don't have anymore, the stock ones are on it now. And the fluid spots under the bike are water because i just washed it before the pics!

That actually looks like a pretty nice C10 for the price and it's got quite a few farkles/upgrades done already as far as the windshield, Progressive springs, Corbin seat, bar risers, etc.  It's hard to say about the seat since everybody is different.  I have a similar Corbin Canyon seat on my 02 and I like it over the stock seat which always seemed to have me sinking to the seat pan after just a short while.  Some folks prefer the stock though.  Mine does have a tendency to slide me toward the tank though but it's not too bad.

Take a close look at the side fairings and foot pegs for any signs that the bike has been dropped.  You might have to repair some screw tabs at some point if it has.  Take a look at the brake rotors....those are price to replace.  Ask if the valves have been checked/adjusted regularly.  If she starts easily, revs smoothly and rides nicely then I wouldn't worry too much.  It looks like someone has taken pretty good care of it just judging by the looks and the work that has been done to it.  I've never ridden a C14 but I'm guessing that the C10 will be nothing like it.  This is a great forum for lots of ideas and help though if you do jump on it but I'm sure you already know that from the C14 board.

I haven't heard of anyone going from a C-14 back to a C-10. I would think they might be a little dissapointed-quite different bikes. Mark

I think the default cut of the Corbin Dual Canyon is very slidy. I had mine cut 2.5" closer to the tank and it is perfect now like a horse saddle. If I got a bike with a Corbin like that, I'd call them to see if they can re-cut it to your liking.
Now this is according to my height (6' 0"), and handlebar-reach of course. But I was shocked at the difference and glad I had it done. Something to consider.
